‘I endeavor to leave the world a better place than how I found it when I was born’ – This is my life motto.
I believe we are born into this world, no doubt to try to make the most out of it, don’t get me wrong, but life would make no sense to me if we didn’t try to give out true generous love to those around us thus making their lives happier and the world a better place. And I’m sure you feel the same way too . There’s a lot we can do in our everyday life but sometimes we don’t know how, where or who to help.
This is where the idea of this blogspot comes in. I had a very inspiring experience last Wednesday which I immediately wanted to share with my family and friends and it sparked that I could create this space where I would be hoping to be useful by posting content which will ideally help friends like you and me who share this urge to make the world a better place but often don’t have the time or means to research how to help in the most efficient and trustful way.
WHO2HELP is a trusting network of friends and family where we can share the wonderful work of organisations and individuals we admire for their commitment and impact on society, pointing out how we can be most useful to them as well as how efficiently our help will reach whom its destined to. We only share projects well known to us and with whom we have a close relationship. So that, no matter how global or local the projects are, we can always be confident we can trust in them.
Lets help them help.
Let us find out WHO2HELP.
As a Catholic, it is obvious that my meaning of life would be to serve others, encountering Jesus in every soul that we touch, but I like to think that had I not been born into a Catholic family, my inner soul would have still felt the urge to look around me and lend my smiling hand to my brothers and sisters with whom we share this world. We can’t just live in our cocoon, we must be aware of the world around us. I am hoping not to sound too sickly sweet but its not easy to express these thoughts!
Where do they come from? I don’t know. I guess its a combination of circumstances. I always feel my heart momentarily cringes when I see someone suffering. How could we not wish the best for our fellows and suffer when they suffer? Call me sentimentalist but I believe its in human nature. I’ve been brought up to treat others as you would like to be treated. Would you not like others to help you if you were in need?
And no matter how bad you think your situation may be, if you look around you will always find someone in a worse position who could use your help. It still strikes me when I see for example how generous homeless people are with their peers, how they care and take care of each other. We have so much to learn from those who are less fortunate than us! I’ve often wondered how I would cope in their situation. Would I be strong enough? I wonder…
I’ve always felt we have a responsibility to the world, to give back as much as we can of what we have been given – this entails a responsibility to our brothers and sisters less fortunate than us, to younger generations, who will learn from our example and from whom we already have a lot to learn from, and to future generations.
Optimistic? Naïve? Utopian? I’m Pisces, you can call me a dreamer – but I’m certain that every little action counts, every contribution adds up and, as my husband very often likes to say, ‘the more the merrier’. So lets join the community of professionals and non professionals who dedicate their talents and lives to make the world a better place to live in.
